Welcome back to the Heel/Face Christmas countdown! There are only 13 days left until Christmas and hopefully you have done some of your shopping already. Today’s woman featured is the one and only Ruthless Lala!
Lala is originally from north Texas, but she has wrestled all over the Lone Star State. She was trained by Steve DeMarco amongst other veterans and has made some history at NWA Wrestling Revolution in McAllen, Texas. Find out what history she has made there (two different times) and more in our interview below. Be sure to come back up until Christmas to see even more women featured on our special countdown!
H/F: At what age did you begin watching wrestling?
RL: At the age of 7(even though I had to sneak lol).
H/F: When did you know that you wanted to become a wrestler?
RL: When I saw the undertaker vs Yokozuna and he got betrayed by Paul Bearer and later he rose from the dead and took his revenge and the crowd went crazy. After that, I knew I wanted to entertain the fans and the world by becoming a wrestler.
H/F: Where did you begin your training and who trained you?
RL: I started in PCW in Arlington, Texas and finished my training at CWF in Rockwall, Texas. Steve DeMarco was my trainer amongst other veterans.
H/F: How long have you been in the business?
RL: The end of december will make 14yrs.
H/F: Who are some of your influences or people that you look up to in the business?
RL: I look up to Awesome Kong, Jazz, Aja Kong, Bull Nakamura and as far as men I look up to would be, The Great Muta, The Undertaker, Stan Hanson, JBL, Big Daddy V and Kenta Kobashi.
H/F: What is your entrance music? Any reason for picking this song?
RL: Sucker for pain, because it describes my career and it speaks to my heart.
H/F: What is the name of your finisher?
RL: The BBG ( B*tch be gone) Fisherman Spinning Neckbreaker.
H/F: What have you learned about yourself in your journey of becoming a wrestler?
RL: That I’m a lot stronger than what I gave myself credit for, and that I’m a sucker for pain and no matter what gets thrown at me, I keep pushing to achieve my goals.
H/F: What has been your favorite part of your career so far?
RL: Besides knocking some dream matches off my list. The most favorite part of my career so far would be tagging with my best friend, Tony Strong, to become the first ever intergender tag team champions at NWA Wrestling Revolution and also being the first woman to win a belt at that company.
H/F: Who would your dream match be against?
RL: Ruthless Lala vs Aja Kong!
H/F: Other than the dream match opponent, is there anyone that you haven’t worked with that you would like to one day?
RL: Yes, Mercedez Martinez, Brittany Wonder, Su Yung, Mickie James, Lufisto, Kimber Lee, Taya, Sexy Star, and if she was not retired and teaching the women at NXT, I would to wrestle Sara del Ray.
H/F: What are some of your goals for 2017?
RL: To be internationally known. Also, travel to Japan to be known as the most ruthless female in the world. To be known as the best intergender tag team ever, not to mention to be a true role model to all of those girls out there that want to fight for what they want and not let anybody tell them what they can’t do, because the sky’s the limit and whatever you set your mind and heart to, you can achieve.
H/F: Favorite cheat meal? Type of music? Type of movies?
RL: Honey walnut shrimp from Panda Express LOL. R&B, rock, pop and old school rap. Kung fu, I’m a huge martial arts fan. I also like horror suspense comedy and every now and then I like chick flicks LOL.
H/F: What is something that not many people know about you?
RL: I’ve been struggling with skin cancer for over 7 years now and they would have found a cure if I wasn’t always turned away, because I was told that African Americans can’t get skin cancer.
H/F: Bucket list of places you want to wrestle?
RL: California, Florida, New Jersey, Arizona, Las Vegas, Mexico, London, Japan, Canada, Australia, New Mexico, everywhere! LOL.
H/F: What do you enjoy doing when you aren’t wrestling?
RL: I love making music, playing video games and spending time with my mom, kids and my best friend.
H/F: Finish this statement, if I wasn’t involved in wrestling, I would be doing…
RL: If I wasn’t involved in wrestling, I would be either a choreographer or a youth pastor or a video game designer.
H/F: Do you have any words for your fans?
RL: I just want to say thank you for all the love and support! It truly means more than words can describe. I truly appreciate you guys and gals for sticking with me through the good times and the bad times. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for always sticking with me no matter what. You fans are the reason why we work so hard to entertain you guys, because when we do come to wrestle, you guys make sure that I know how much you appreciate it and there’s no words that can express my gratitude because you guys are simply amazing.
