Welcome back to the Heel/Face countdown to Christmas special! If you’ve missed any of the women that we have featured so far, have no fear, simply click here to see what you’ve missed.
Today is a new day and there are only 15 days until Christmas, which still leaves us plenty of time to feature more women in wrestling and today is no exception. Today’s woman that will be featured is Sunsette Riviera!
She is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and has been in the business for a little over one year. Along with wrestling, she also manages/valets. She participated in the Rise seminar earlier this year and credits Chyna for getting her into wrestling. Get to know her more in the interview below and make sure to come back everyday up until Christmas to see all of the women we feature on this countdown special!
SR: In January of 1999, I was seven and watched Chyna become the thirtieth entrant in the Royal Rumble. That was my first experience of watching professional wrestling.
SR: When I watched Melanie Cruise wrestle, I knew that I wanted to become a professional wrestler. She’s beautiful. She’s a warrior. Melanie Cruise’s confidence is contagious and I wanted to be another “Amazon” professional wrestler.
H/F: Where did you begin your training and who trained you?
SR: Student of the Thumper’s Den Wrestling Academy of Brew City Wrestling from November of 2015 to December of 2016 – The Head Trainer is the Beer City Bruiser, Matt Winchester. I am a student of the business of professional wrestling and I will never discontinue training!
H/F: How long have you been in the business?
SR: I’ve been in the business since November of 2015.
H/F: Who are some of your influences or people that you look up to in the business?
SR: My greatest influence is Stacy Shadows. She taught me the importance of discipline, respectful behavior and friendship in the business of professional wrestling. Stacy Shadows is an incredibly talented professional wrestler, committed to excellence. Another influence of mine is Mamba from Asistencia Asesoría y Administración LLC (AAA). Mamba can teach every young man and woman to be themselves, unapologetically and with enthusiasm. My favorite professional wrestlers are Kaori Yoneyama, Vivian Vachon, Les Kellett and Bob Backlund. (Never Capitulate!)
H/F: What is your entrance music? Any reason for picking this song?
SR: My entrance music is “Move On Up” by Curtis Mayfield. “Move On Up” DAZZLES and is an appropriate anthem for my passion, positivity and old-fashioned charisma.
H/F: What is the name of your finishers?
SR: The Yakuza Kick and Sunsette’s “Goodnight Kiss” (Seated Senton, Sealed with a Kiss to the Forehead)
H/F: What are the names of some wrestling promotions that you have wrestled for?
SR: I have been involved in matches (wrestling, valeting and/or announcing) for the following promotions. Brew City Wrestling, Main Event Professional Wrestling, AnarchyPro Wrestling, 7Star Wrestling, POWW Entertainment, the Wisconsin Independent Classic, RISE Developing Tomorrow’s Women Athletes.
H/F: What have you learned about yourself in your journey of becoming a wrestler?
SR: In the twenty-first century, my values are unconventional. I am an anachronism because I am inspired by the captivating Early-1970’s Professional Wrestling. Most Importantly – I’ve learned that I am capable of appreciating myself regardless of whether or not I have the appreciation from elsewhere! I have a #PositiveMentalAttiude and I am valuable!
H/F: What has been your favorite part of your career so far?
SR: Valeting for Nikolai Volkoff!
H/F: Who would your dream match be against?
SR: Dream Matches: 1.) Sunsette and Donna Dawn Lemke versus Kay Noble and Penny Banner 2.) Sunsette versus Princess Paula for the Reslo Promotion 3.) Valeting for Les Kellett versus Johnny Czeslaw 4.) Valeting for Killer Kowalski versus Yukon Eric.
H/F: Other than the dream match opponent, is there anyone that you haven’t worked with that you would like to one day?
SR: Absolutely! Valeting for Stokely Hathaway (Chuck Taylor) or Caprice Coleman would be INCREDIBLE!
H/F: What are some of your goals for 2017?
SR: The 2016 RISE1 Seminar, IGNITE Live Event and Shimmer Women Athletes weekend changed my perspective concerning my concussions. Important information about the severity of head injuries was shared by the female veteran professional wrestlers and medical professionals with the participants. For 2017 – My priority is healing my concussions!
H/F: Favorite cheat meal?
SR: Definitely the Vegan Strawberry Vanilla Cream Cheese Crepe from Beerline Cafe in Milwaukee, Wisconsin!
SR: Motown Gold (Diana Ross & the Supremes, the Temptations) and the Shangri-Las.
SR: “Mid-Twentieth Century” Dramas (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, A Single Man).
SR: Nerd Alert! I have a collection of Commodore Business Machines (VIC-20, C-64, C-128).
H/F: Favorite place that you have wrestled so far?
SR: The Shack in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin for the Wisconsin Independent Classic.

SR: The Mashed Potato with Sloppy Joe!

SR: Thank you for the support and the encouragement! Dream, Believe, Achieve and Succeed!
