We recently announced Buggy Nova as the first participant in the upcoming Sabotage Wrestling tournament to crown the first ever women’s champion. We also had the pleasure of speaking to her and getting to know her a little more. She has trained with some of the best in the business today and gives you a little more insight as to who Buggy Nova is. You can read what we talked about below.
H/F: At what age did you begin watching wrestling?
BN: I was about 7 or 8 years old.
H/F: When did you know that you wanted to become a wrestler?
BN: It’s funny because I never really saw myself becoming a pro wrestler, I always admired them on tv, but never thought I could do it myself. By the time I was 18, I was managing alongside Diablo and Sinner at AWS in City of Industry, California for the Dogs of War. I think I was a few months in before Bart Kapitzke (owner of AWS and a friend of mine) suggested I start training. I thought he was crazy, but he believed in me. Since trying it, I fell in love and kept going. I’m so thankful he was there to push me outside of my comfort zone, he played a huge role in where I am today.
H/F: Where did you train and who trained you?
BN: Bart first introduced me to Ed Brown and Josh Selby, trainers at AWS. I worked with them my first few months before Bart led me to train with the Ballard Brothers and Van Ayasit. AWS is really my foundation of pro wrestling and my home.
H/F: How long have you been in the business?
BN: I believe I began managing in 2008.
H/F: Who are some of your influences or people that you look up to in the business?
BN: My trainer Shannon Ballard, his passion and commitment to this business is out of this world. I learned so much from him. Van Ayasit, another trainer of mine, also my girls Davina Rose (aka Bayley) and Candice LeRae; working with them a lot in California helped shape me as a worker in my early years and I admire them both. Also I’d like to name drop Charlotte real quick, I met her on her first day of wrestling training and have watched that girl blossom, she’s a rockstar, a total work horse and a sweetheart at that.
H/F: What is your entrance music? Any reason for picking this song?
BN: King of the World by Porcelain and the Tramps. This was my very first entrance song and it’s always stuck. I feel like it’s a very “Buggy” song; like walking through those curtains, Buggy really IS the king of the world.
H/F: What is the name of your finisher(s)?
BN: The Buggy Bulldog or, if I feel like punishing my opponent, the Ballardina.
H/F: What have you learned about yourself in your journey of becoming a wrestler?
BN: I’ve learned how car sick I can really get on long road trips lol. I’ve learned how much I value my private time. I’ve learned to never give up, that miracles really do happen. To never depend on anyone to remind of your worth!
H/F: What has been your favorite part of your career so far?
BN: Traveling, meeting all types of people (I am a people watcher) and making my own schedule.
H/F: Who would your dream match be against?
BN: Buggy Nova vs Trish Status vs Kenny Omega!
H/F: Other than the dream match opponents, is there anyone that you haven’t worked with that you would like to one day?
BN: Taelor Hendrix, Saraya Knight and Leva Bates.
H/F: Ok let’s talk about Sabotage Wrestling now. Talk about how you became involved with Sabotage.
BN: The first time I heard about Sabotage, I thought it was such a COOL promotion and I immediately wanted to be a part of it. So when I was approached to be on the show for February, I couldn’t say “yes” fast enough!
H/F: What would it mean to you to become the first ever Sabotage women’s champion?
BN: Winning the belt at Sabotage would solidify the glimmer of hope I had coming back into this business, to be taken seriously, not just as a sad story about a sick girl finding herself, but as a warrior who has seen her rock bottom, decided not stay there, and has climbed her way back out of that Hell to continue to follow her dream. That belt will be held with pride and represent the light at the end of a very dark tunnel.
H/F: What can fans expect from you once you step in the ring?
BN: Fans can expect a relationship with Buggy Nova. I make it a point to make sure the fans get the best version of Buggy when I’m out there. I love to interact, I will even put my Chucky doll in someone’s face (he likes his butt to be kissed/massaged) Everyone will have a good time!
H/F: Anything you would like to say to the other women competing in this tournament?
BN: I don’t feel the need to talk a big game, I’m here to compete! Just don’t stand in my way.
H/F: How are you planning on preparing for this tournament?
BN: By feasting on the blood of innocent virgins. Also, lots of stretching…
H/F: Any words for your fans?
BN: You guys keep me motivated and stronger everyday.
H/F: Any last words that you would like to add?
BN: Chucky wants to play….
