Royal Rumble Predictions

This years Royal Rumble is set to take place tonight in Orlando, Florida at the Amway Center. Vince McMahon has stacked the odds against Roman Reigns and is forcing him to defend his title in the Royal Rumble, something that has never been done before.

Only one other time (1992) had the World Heavyweight title been up for grabs in the Royal Rumble, but the title was vacant at the time that the match took place. Ric Flair ended up winning the Rumble that year in case you didn’t already know.

Overall this card is pretty weak considering this is the kickoff to the road to WrestleMania. That is, unless the WWE has some good surprises in store for us.

Let’s start with the kickoff match. It features the Dudley Boyz vs The Ascension vs Darren Young & Damien Sandow vs Mark Henry and Jack Swagger and the winners get an entry to the Royal Rumble match. Yeah……this makes no sense at all. I’m guessing they have broken up the Prime Time Players and are wanting to push Titus as a solo wrestler now? And Mark Henry and Jack Swagger? Oooooooookay then. We all know The Ascension isn’t winning this match, we might as well save us all the time and just put the Dudley Boyz in the Royal Rumble.  Moving along.

Becky Lynch vs (C) Charlotte (with Ric Flair in her corner) for the Divas championship. Lately Charlotte has been transitioned into a heel, but the problem is that she is horrible on the mic. Maybe they should just let her dad do all the talking. While I am not questioning her wrestling skills, I do think Becky is the better of the two as far as wrestling skills is concerned. I think it’s time to take that belt away from Charlotte and give the Divas division a breath of fresh air. Maybe even have Sasha Banks come in and interfere somehow and cause Charlotte to lose. This could set up a triple threat match at WrestleMania between the three of them. Oh and while I’m on the subject of Sasha, it’s time for her to ditch team BAD. She’s outgrown them and will certainly do better without them. She doesn’t need them as much as they need her.
(C) Alberto Del Rio vs Kalisto for the United States championship. I’m not exactly sure what they are doing with Del Rio, I’m not even sure they know what they are doing with him either. I didn’t mind seeing Kalisto with the title when he had it for all of 5 minutes. I’d like to see him win the title and move on to a short title reign to WrestleMania. That’s what I’d like to see, but that’s not what’s going to happen. I’m assuming Del Rio was promised a US title or Intercontinental title reign when he resigned with the WWE & this is his run. With the rumble match taking up most of the pay per view, I this this match will a quick one with Del Rio retaining.

(C) The New Day vs The Usos for the Tag Team titles. Awwwwwwwwwwww Royal Rumble! Don’t you dare be sour because the New Day is going to continue to be your two time tag team champions. Don’t get me wrong, I like the Usos but the New Day is just pure gold all around. They’re great on the mic, they’re funny, they can wrestle, did I say they’re good on the mic? Yeah they are the total package(shout out to Lex Lugar). I do, however, expect this match to be a good one. Once again the 3 to 2 advantage will help the New Day retain and their run should go all the way through to WrestleMania.

 (C) Dean Ambrose vs Kevin Owens for the Intercontinental championship. Now, every one that knows me, knows that KO is my homie. Matter of fact, I’m wearing a KO shirt right now as I type this. With all of the drama between Reigns and his crew, which Ambrose is a part of, and the Authority, I think they find a way to screw Dean and get the title back to Owens. Which I wouldn’t be mad at. I’m not quite sure what that would mean for Dean as far as WrestleMania plans, but hey, he could easily win the Royal Rumbke, right?

The Royal Rumble match, every man for himself for the WWE Heavyweight Title. Roman Reigns has found himself up one hell of an uphill battle. Reigns will enter at number one and will have to outlast 29 other men in order to retain. Let’s get it out of the way now, Roman is not retaining. So who wins? Hmmmm. Could be a number of people. Do they want to put the strap back on Brock Lesnar? Nah. Y2J? Nah, his main eventing days are over. A surprise entry? Nah that wouldn’t be best for business. So what is best for business? Yep. You guessed it, Triple H will win. The WWE has teased a HHH vs Roman match for far too long, so why not have it at the grandest stage of them all? I would not be mad at that if it happened.
Surprise Entrants*: AJ Styles(who doesn’t know about this one?, Kevin Nash, HBK, Triple H(mentioned in the paragraph above), DDP and Bronson Mathews(you know him better as Josh from Tough Enough).
*=These are only guesses and are only my guesses. Just a list of people who have been rumored to be making an appearance.
